The aging process causes the face to lose its volume and shape, causing hollows and wrinkles. To achieve a more attractively full facial shape and defined contours, a facial fat transfer can be performed to restore your youthful appearance.
What Recovery Time Should I Expect After A Facial Fat Transfer?
Recovery after a fat transfer varies from patient to patient. Plan to take one or two weeks off from work or other activities as you recuperate and heal.
Expect swelling and possible bruising in both the area where the fat was removed and the facial areas where the fat was transferred to. The most significant swelling will begin to subside after several days.
After about two weeks, most of the remaining swelling will have subsided. However, there will be a period of settling time while the fat cells readjust and shift as they move into their final position. Some portion of the injected fat will also dissolve in the first few weeks after the procedure. This is a natural part of the healing process and is compensated for during the fat transfer procedure. The final results of the fat transfer may take 4-6 months.
