What To Expect During Recovery
Every patient is unique, and recovery time varies from person to person. Dr. Tansavatdi generally recommends patients take 1-2 weeks off from work in order to allow plenty of time to rest and heal as they recover from their procedure.
After your surgery, there will be swelling and bruising in the facial areas where fat was injected, and in the area of your body where the donor fat was removed. Swelling and bruising will be more significant during the first several days after your surgery. After this point, the swelling and bruising will begin to substantially subside.
After about two weeks, most of the remaining swelling will have reduced. While you will feel recovered, the fat tissues will still be settling into their final position in your face. Some of the fat cells will be absorbed by your body after transfer during this period. This is a natural and expected part of your healing after your procedure. It may take up to 4-6 months for your final results to be completely realized.
How Long Will The Results Of A Facial Fat Transfer Last?
Your facial rejuvenation includes restoration of youthful facial volume and lifted and sculpted facial contours that help turn back the clock on facial aging. Results are very long-lasting, providing benefits for years. However, keep in mind that while a facial fat transfer can erase existing signs of age, it cannot protect against future aging. Over the years, the results of your fat transfer may diminish slightly as your aging process naturally continues.
