How is Facial Fat Transfer Performed?
To perform the facial fat transfer, Dr. Tansavatdi uses liposuction to take fat from the hips, thighs, or buttocks. Depending on the amount of fat needed, liposuction can be performed under local or general anesthesia. The first part of the procedure requires small incisions, which heal well and produce minimal scarring after surgery. Once she has obtained the fat, Dr. Tansavatdi then purifies it to use as a filler. The fat is then placed in small syringes and re-injected into the patient’s face in pre-determined areas of recognized facial volume loss. It is important to note that results become gradually visible. Most of the fat is absorbed by the body right away, so Dr. Tansavatdi may use more than necessary in order to produce the desired result.
