Fillers vs. surgery for under-eye rejuvenation
Some patients who are interested in under-eye rejuvenation are not good candidates for Restylane or other dermal fillers. During your consultation with Dr. Tansavatdi, she will discuss with you if Restylane is right for your under-eye aesthetic issues.
Typically, good candidates for Restylane are:
- Those who have hollowing, sunken eyes, and very little volume around the eyes, no bags. These individuals make a good filler candidate because fillers are used to add volume where there is hollowing.
- Those whose under-eye bags are very mild, and have mostly hollowing. As long as the under-eye bags aren’t too prominent, filler can be injected to improve them. The more prominent the bags are, the harder it is to use filler on them.
Those who are not a good candidate for Restylane or fillers are:
- Those who have very deep tear troughs and fairly severe under-eye bags. Filler will only make the bags look puffier and more aged.
When someone is not a good candidate for under-eye Restylane treatments, Dr. Tansavatdi will typically recommend under-eye surgery.
